Sujood
I rest my forehead on the ground.
I can feel the soft green grass tickling my hands and feet,
the cool, earthy smell wafting into my nose
as I take deep breaths and recite
Subhana Rabbiyal A‘la - three times.
I can hear squeals of laughter
as children play around me,
while I sink deeper into the ground -
my worries and problems lift,
up, up, up into the air
as I whisper quiet duas
into the sajada before me.
It feels so peaceful to take your time in sujood -
so peaceful and serene,
as if the entire world has come to a halt
while you speak to the One who created you.
The One who knows what you’ll say
before you say it.
The One who knows every part of you.
The One who holds every answer
to every problem.
Sujood - what a beautiful feeling to be in sujood.
