A day at the safari

Something I wrote to help my eldest munchkin with his Atchison creative writing preparation last year and I felt like sharing it!

One early morning while I was snoozing in my soft cozy bed, my mother surprised me with a trip to the safari.

"Hurray" I shouted in excitement and jumped out of bed. I packed my bags and we were off.

Once there, there was so much to do. There were tons of animals to see and scrumptious food to eat.

I saw a huge lioness with her adorable baby cubs playing in the scorching heat. I saw a black and white stripped zebra braying to it's mother. I saw a yellow giraffe with it's long neck peering at me through the thick bars. I saw a herd of grey elephants swinging their trucks over their heads spraying themselves with cool water.

After seeing all the animals we took a break to have some tasty snacks. I had a buttered roll with jam and peanut butter and a cup of fresh orange juice.

We sat in open air and munched on our food until it was all gone. The wind was blowing slightly as the sun beat down on us. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.
